They Boys Tennis Team has moved to Round 2 of the State Dual Team Playoffs with its victory over Spring Creed HS on Tuesday.  The score was 6-0.  We won all the singles matches and did not have to play doubles.  Spring Creek managed to win only 10 games among the 6 matches, and won no sets.  Our next opponent will be Rosewood HS of Goldsboro.  They have an 8-0 record and are the Carolina Conf. champion.  Our record is now 9-5, and looking for our 10th win next week.  Lets keep it going.

In other news, Cyrus Richardson has advanced to the Individual East Regional Tournament in Greenville.  He will play on Friday and Saturday this week in singles against the other best players form the East.  Good luck to Cyrus and wishing him continues good play. 

The men's tennis team lost to Raleigh Charter on Thursday to complete its regular season with an overall record of 8-5.  That should be good enough to secure a Wild Card spot in the playoffs.  We will find out next Monday.  Our player of the day was freshman Quentyn Bobb, who himself in singles won more games then the rest of the team combined in singles and doubles!  Great job Q!  

In the Patriots most exciting match of the year by far, we won 5-4 over previously unbeaten Louisburg HS.  Winning in singles were Cyrus Richardson, Perry Frutiger, and Zach Harris.  Brandon Lav and Sam Blevins lost  3 setters.  After singles it was 3-3.  In doubles  Cyrus/Sam won 8-2 at #1.  At #3 Zackaria and Austin lost 1-8.  With the score 4-4 it all came down to the #2 doubles match.  With everyone hanging on every shot, Zach Harris and Perry pulled out the most pressure-packed contest seen in quite a while.  They won 8-6.  They both played as well as they know how especially considering the stakes.  It was our best win of the year and the happiest we have been this season.  Great job Patriots!

The Boys tennis team moved to a season record of 5-2 with a 7-2 win over Franklinton on Monday.  Leading the way was Cyrus Richardson, back after being gone 2 weeks.  He won both his matches in dominating fashion.  Also with big wins were Sam Blevins, Perry Frutiger, Zach Harris, and Brandon Lav.  In doubles Richardson/Venable took care of the Rams #1 8-3.  Our #3 team of Austin Barnes/Mark Edmunson  also won 8-3.  Great job Patriots.

The Patriots tennis team moved to 3-1 with a win over Bunn HS on Thursday. It was 4-2 after singles with Cyrus, Sam, Perry, and Brandon all winning.  Zach Harris lost a close 3 set match, and Austin lost at #6 singles.  In doubles we swept them, with Zackaria and Matthew winning at #3 by a score of 8-5.  The player of the match was Brandon Lav, who hit the most unlikely ace ever seen.  Brandon hit his serve on the very top of his racquet sending the ball nearly straight up.  It then miraculously fell in and with such a side spin that his opponent could not hit it.  He did this on his way to winning both his singles and doubles matches.  Good job Brandon.

Patriots Tennis moves to 4-2 behind stellar play of Sam Blevins, Perry Frutiger, Zach Harris, Austin Barnes and Quintyn Bobb. They beat Franklinton 8-1 on Thursday.  Quintyn, in his first real singles match, won 6-4, 6-2, and then went on to win at #3 doubles with Zackaria Abdikarim 8-5.  Sam Blevins was at his best, serving well and attacking the net.  We were missing 3 of our top 7, but still won going away.  

The Patriots tennis team moved to a season record of 2-1 with an 8-1 win over Southern Vance.  Leading the way were Perry Frutiger and Brandon Lav along with Austin Barnes and Matthew Wilford, all of whom won both their singles and doubles matches.  Also winning singles were Zackaria Abdikarim and Mark Edmunson.

Cyrus Richardson competed in the regional tournament this weekend in Greenville. He finished 4th in the region and qualified to move on to the State Tournament.
