Will Armistead didn't allow a single run as Franklin Academy Patriots Varsity defeated Granville Central 10-0 on Monday. Armistead (1-0) allowed just two hits and struck out four in the win. Being efficient with his pitches controled the game as he only allowed one walk.
- The Patriots grabbed an early lead. They scored on a single by Jacob Joyner and a walk by Jason Plant in the first inning. The Patriots scored three runs in the fifth inning to invoke the "mercy rule" and end the game. The big inning was thanks to a single by Lucas Wier, back-to-back triples by Isaac Wier and Trevor Rohrs, ending with a deep sacrifice fly by Zach Taylor.
- The Patriots had 11 hits in the game. Isaac Wier, Lucas Wier, Joyner, and Rohrs each collected multiple hits. Both Wier brothers had three hits to lead the team. Lucas had 5 stolen bases on the day, including 2 steals of home - one a rare pure steal. Taylor drove in 3 runs on the day. A solid defense helped the cause, especially from SS Chandler Williams.
- This was the Patriots (4-1, 0-1) third straight win and they remain undefeted in non-conference games. They play in conference at Roxboro today and again at home on Wednesday. JV starts at 4pm and varsity at 6pm each day.
