Remarkable Defense and Strategic Hitting Support Armistead Complete Game Win

 

Spectacular defense and unrelenting hitting supported an efficient complete game by sophomore Will Armistead (1-0) in his first career varsity start.  Armistead allowed no earned runs, only 3 hits and one walk while striking out 3 in the 13-1 win versus Friendship Christian at Flaherty Park. He also picked of a runner in a crucial situation.  Star defensive catcher Alfred D'Ottavio picked not one, but two runners off third base to kill rallies.  Trevor Rohrs, Jacob Faulkner, and Robert Driver put on a defensive display.  Jason Plant made a diving catch to set the tone in the first inning.

Senior Captains Jacob Faulkner and Robert Driver combined to go 5-for-7 with with 4 runs scored and a double. Lucas Wier returned to the lineup and scored 3 runs and adding 3 stolen bases to increase his North Carolina state leading 28 stolen bases total.  The star hitter of the day was Trevor Rohrs, with 3 hits in 4 at bats including a single, a double, and a triple to the wall.  Rohrs and Isaac Wier each had 2 RBIs.  The Patriots stole 7 bases on the day.  The varsity pitching and defense has given up only 3 runs (one earned) in the last 3 games.  

The next game is Friday, April 8, at 4pm at Flaherty.  Please come support your Patriots (4-10,0-1) as they take on conference rival Roxboro.  Admission is free.
