Aaron Rovnak sets new school record at the Jungle Run Night Race
Congratulations to Aaron Rovnak for his big win in the Invitational Race with a school record breaking time of 16:47!!!!!
Jeddy Waldon placed 15th overall and received a medal. (I picked it up for you, by the way.)
The boys' team finished an impressive 4th place in the team standings in the Invitational Race out of 33 teams! There were 290 competitors in that race.
Besides Aaron, Bryce Polson picked up an impressive new personal record in that race, shaving 1:16 off his previous time. Our two freshmen in the Invitational race, Richie Cash and Brady Hennen, both had solid debuts with competitive times of 19:49 and 20:04 respectively.
The boys' JV Race debuted more of our freshmen and started the season off strong for a few veteran runners with new PR's. Michael Fiumara had the fastest time of the group with a sprint finish that nabbed him a finishing time of 20:42. Grant Gupton, Ben Fitzgerald and Tyler Phipps all finished with new personal best times as well.
In the girls' Invitational Race, Taylor Roberts placed 19th overall in a field of 233 competitors to bring home some bling. It was Laurel Lapish and Nikki Rafferty who stepped up and raced to fast new PR's. Laurel had a breakout race with a 2:16 improvement!! Lily O'Haire had the most even splits of anyone on the team and she is a freshman, which means she was in control and didn't go out too fast. Overall, it was a solid start to our 2018 season.
