- Franklin Academy Patriots Varsity and Louisburg HS traded the lead back-and-forth on Saturday, but eventually Franklin Academy prevailed 14-12. The Patriots took the lead for good in the eighth inning. The game was tied at 12 with the Patriots batting in the top of the eighth when Will Armistead singled, driving in the game-winning two runs.
- Franklin Academy built a seven-run lead in the fifth inning and then couldn't hold off Louisburg's charge. Louisburg scored eight runs to tie the game at 12 and send it into extra innings.
- Jason Plant (1-0) earned the win for Franklin Academy. He pitched four innings, allowing three runs, five hits, and striking out three.
- Franklin Academy collected 11 hits. Nic Fernandez, Will Armistead, Jacob Joyner, and Lucas Wier each collected two hits to lead the Patriots. Franklin Academy tore up the base paths, as three players stole at least two bases, with a team total of 11 stolen bases. Trevor Rohrs led the way with four.
