The FA Tennis team took on the 2 time reigning state 1A tennis champs, Raleigh Charter, on Thursday and nearly pulled out a victory. After singles the score was tied 3-3 with Kali Sibilla, Ashlynn Stephan, and Isabelle Murphy all winning their matches. Kali and Ashlynn both won tense 3rd set tie-breakers. We had a chance, and needed to win 2 out of 3 doubles matches to win the whole thing. However, we only got 1 of 3 with the sister team of Ashlynn and Niamh Stephan dominating in an 8-1 win. We are a team of freshmen and sophomores primarily, and to come so close to beating a team that has won the state championship the last 2 years is phenomenal feat. Their team has 4 seniors in the top 6. Somebody needs to start making a banner for the side of that downtown building for this team. It is coming.
